The Dark Souls font generator creates dark-fantasy text graphics — death-screen messages, boss-style overlays, item banners — directly in your browser. Dark Souls doesn’t license its in-game typeface for outside use, so this tool works from Cinzel and other gothic/medieval serif fonts that approximate the same visual register. How to Use the Dark Souls Font Generator
1. Enter your message
Type your own text, or choose one of eight built-in presets: YOU DIED, BONFIRE LIT, VICTORY ACHIEVED, PREY SLAUGHTERED, HEIR DEFEATED, HOLLOW REVERSED, FOE VANQUISHED, and HUMANITY RESTORED. Each preset also sets a matching subtitle, color, and font automatically. You can add your own subtitle text on top of either option.
2. Customize the typography
Adjust font size, letter spacing, and glow intensity with the sliders. Pick a preset color — Blood, Bonfire, Abyss, or Hollow — or set a custom hex value for a specific shade. If none of the five built-in fonts fit what you’re after, upload your own font file (.ttf or .otf) and the generator will render your text in it.
You can also click and drag the title or subtitle directly on the canvas to reposition it — useful for leaving space for a boss bar or item box, or just off-centering it for a thumbnail layout.
3. Choose a background
Pick a background from the built-in gallery or upload your own image. Use the blur, brightness, and grayscale sliders to blend the background with your text rather than let it compete for attention — a busy background usually reads better with some blur and reduced brightness behind bold text.
4. Add optional game-inspired overlays
Two overlays render directly into your exported image:
- Boss Health Bar: Adds a custom boss name and health bar, styled after in-game boss encounters.
- Item Pickup Box: Adds a custom item-title notification banner.
Two more are visible while you work but are preview-only and won’t appear in your downloaded PNG:
- Souls Counter: A running on-page tally that increases as you use the tool — a fun touch while designing, not part of the exported image.
- CRT Scanlines: A retro screen-texture effect layered over the live preview in your browser, not baked into the export.
5. Export your image
Select Download PNG to save your design. On browsers that support it, Copy Image lets you paste the result directly into other applications.
Fonts and Effects
Cinzel is the default and closest general match to the weight and proportions used across most Soulslike branding. Cinzel Decorative, MedievalSharp, Germania One, and Uncial Antiqua each shift the tone — more ornate, more brutal, more ancient — and all five render live in the preview so you can compare before exporting.
Stylized Text Generator
Below the main image generator is a separate Unicode text converter with five styles: Gothic Fraktur, Bold Gothic, Double Struck, Fullwidth, and Cursed Zalgo. Each one copies straight to your clipboard as plain text — useful for usernames, Discord bios, and anywhere an image upload isn’t practical.
How to Export a PNG
- Finish your text, color, background, and overlay settings.
- Click Download PNG to save the current design.
- Use Copy Image when image clipboard support is available in your browser.
The generator exports at a fixed 1200×600px. For a larger final image — print projects or bigger compositions — upscale the exported PNG afterward in any image editor.
Using the Generator on Mobile
The generator works on modern smartphones and tablets as well as desktop browsers.
- Text controls, sliders, color controls, and background selection all work with touch input, including dragging text on the canvas.
- Download PNG is the recommended export method on mobile.
- Copy Image depends on browser support for image clipboard features and may behave differently across mobile browsers.
When image copying is unavailable, download the PNG instead and share it from your device.

Troubleshooting
Why does my exported image look blurry?
The canvas exports at a fixed 1200×600px. If your source background image is much lower resolution than that, it can appear soft once scaled up — try a higher-resolution background image for a sharper result.
Why does my background look stretched?
This happens when your uploaded image’s aspect ratio doesn’t match the fixed 1200×600 (2:1) canvas. Cropping your image to roughly 2:1 before uploading gives the cleanest result.
Why doesn’t Copy Image work on my phone?
Image clipboard functionality depends on browser and operating-system support. Some mobile browsers restrict image copying entirely. Use Download PNG as the reliable alternative.
Why is my uploaded background not appearing?
Check that the selected image is a supported format and has finished loading — very large images can take a moment to decode before they appear.
Why doesn’t my exported PNG show the CRT effect or Souls Counter?
Those two are preview-only. The CRT scanline texture and Souls Counter display in your browser while you work but aren’t drawn onto the canvas itself, so they won’t appear in the downloaded PNG. The Boss Health Bar and Item Pickup Box, by contrast, are drawn onto the canvas and will export with your image.
